WEBSITE CREATION

Website design in Harrogate

Your website should give people a clear picture of your business and make it easy to take the next step. I create websites that look the part, work well on mobile and help customers find what they need.

Based in Harrogate, I work with businesses in Knaresborough, across Yorkshire and further afield on new websites and redesigns. From the first conversation through to launch, you’ll deal with me.

A website that fits your business

Every business needs something different from its website. Yours might need to explain a specialist service, showcase your products or make booking easier. The right approach starts with understanding what your customers need to know before they get in touch.

I take the time to understand what you do, who you want to reach and what people need from your site. That shapes the design, the content and the way the pages fit together.

If you already have a website, we can look at what’s working and where it falls short. Sometimes the structure needs attention. Sometimes the business has simply outgrown it.

What I can help with

New websites and redesigns

A new site for a new venture, or a fresh approach to an existing one. I’ll plan the pages around your services and priorities, with a design that reflects your business.

Clear content and navigation

Visitors should be able to understand what you offer without hunting for it. I can help organise your information, refine the wording and give each page a clear job.

Mobile layouts

Your site needs to be comfortable to use on a phone as well as a larger screen. That means readable text, sensible image sizing, straightforward navigation and buttons that are easy to tap.

Enquiries, galleries and bookings

I can include the features that make sense for your business, whether that’s an enquiry form, project gallery, downloadable brochure or a connection to your booking system.

SEO foundations

I build in the basics, including page titles, descriptions, a sensible heading structure and links between relevant pages. For local businesses, that includes making your services and the areas you cover clear.

Hosting and ongoing support

I can help with hosting, domain connections and updates after launch. If you want to add projects, change images or develop the site further, we can agree the support you need.

How we’ll get your website from idea to launch

  1. 1. Talk through what you need

We’ll start with your business, your current website if you have one, and what you’d like the new site to achieve. You don’t need a finished brief. A conversation gives us somewhere to start.

  2. 2. Agree the scope

I’ll set out the pages, features and work involved so you know what’s included before we begin. We’ll also cover the content and images we need, the cost and a realistic timescale.

  3. 3. Design and build

I’ll create the site and share it with you to review. You’ll have the chance to give feedback on how it looks, how it reads and how it works before it goes live.

  4. 4. Check and launch

Before launch, I’ll check the layouts, links, forms and agreed features across desktop and mobile. Then I’ll help put the site live and explain how any ongoing updates will work.

“Working with Steve was a pleasure from start to finish. He understood our brief straight away and brought real expertise to the project, but he never lost sight of what we wanted. He listened, asked the right questions and turned our ideas into something better than we'd imagined.”

Work directly with me

I bring a marketing perspective to the build. Alongside the design, I’m thinking about how you explain your services, where visitors might have questions and what makes it easy for them to get in touch.

You’ll have one person to speak to throughout the project. I’ll explain the options clearly, give you my honest view and keep you involved as the website takes shape.

I’m based in Harrogate and work with businesses locally and further afield. If you’re looking for help with the website and the thinking behind it, I’d be happy to hear what you have in mind.

Questions about working together

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the pages, features and content involved. Once we’ve talked through what you need, I’ll provide a quote with a clear outline of the work included.

Can you improve my existing website?

Yes. I’ll first look at how it’s built and what you want to change. From there, I can explain whether updating the existing site or starting again is the better approach.

Do I need to write all the content?

You don’t need polished copy before getting in touch. If you have existing content, we can use that as a starting point. If you need help writing it, we can include that in the project.

Will I be able to update the website myself?

If you want to manage things such as news posts, images or projects, tell me at the start. We can plan an editing setup around what you need to change and how comfortable you are doing it.

Can you look after the site once it’s live?

Yes. I offer ongoing support for updates, content changes and improvements. We’ll agree what that covers so you know how things will be looked after.

Will my website appear on Google?

I’ll put the agreed SEO foundations in place and help make the site accessible to search engines. Rankings take time and depend on more than the build, so I won’t promise a particular position. If you need further content or marketing support, we can discuss that too.
