DIGITAL PR CAMPAIGNS

Digital PR campaigns from Harrogate

A good story gives people a reason to talk about your business. Finding it, shaping it and getting it in front of the right journalists takes thought.

I help businesses develop stories and carry out targeted media outreach, from company news and expert commentary to wider campaigns. I’m based in Harrogate and work with businesses locally and further afield, with outreach shaped around the story and its audience.

What makes your story worth covering?

A business update isn’t automatically a news story. Journalists need something that matters to their readers, whether that’s a useful insight, a timely opinion, an unusual project or evidence of a wider trend.

I’ll look at the angle from that perspective. Sometimes there’s a strong story ready to develop. Sometimes we need more detail, better imagery or a different way into it.

You’ll get an honest view of what we have to work with before we start sending it out.

What I can help with

Story ideas and campaign planning

I can help identify newsworthy angles within your business and develop ideas around your expertise, customers or original information.

Press release writing

A clear release that puts the story first, with the context, supporting details and approved comments a journalist needs.

Expert commentary

If you have something useful to add to a developing story, I can help shape your response and identify relevant opportunities. The comment needs to add insight rather than simply mention the business.

Media research and outreach

I’ll research publications and journalists whose coverage fits the story, then tailor the approach. Local, trade and national media each need a reason to be interested.

Follow-up and coverage reporting

I can handle relevant follow-ups, respond to requests for more information and report on coverage found. We’ll look at where the business appeared and what was included.

Build the campaign around something real

Your experience, projects and information are the foundations of the story. If a campaign uses data, we need to understand where it came from and what it can support. Quotes should reflect the views of the person attributed.

I’ll help organise those details so the story stands up when a journalist asks questions. Strong photographs and an available spokesperson can also make a difference when an opportunity comes through.

How we’ll work together

  1. 1. Find the angle

We’ll discuss your business, expertise and any news or ideas you have. I’ll assess the story and the audiences it could interest.

  2. 2. Prepare the materials

I’ll develop the agreed release or pitch and identify the supporting information we need. You’ll approve the facts and comments before outreach begins.

  3. 3. Approach the right media

I’ll contact relevant journalists and manage the agreed follow-up. If the response suggests a better angle or timing, we can adapt.

Questions about digital PR

Can you guarantee coverage or links?

No. Journalists and editors decide what to publish and whether to include a link. I can develop the story and carry out relevant outreach, but I won’t promise placements I don’t control.

Do I need a big announcement?

Not necessarily. Useful expertise, an interesting project or a well-supported observation can provide a starting point. We’ll assess whether there’s enough substance for an approach.

Can you help with local press?

Yes. If a story has a clear connection to Harrogate, Knaresborough or another area, relevant local media can be part of the plan. A wider story may suit trade or national publications too.

Is digital PR only about SEO?

No. Coverage can introduce your business to new audiences and demonstrate your expertise. Relevant links may also support your wider search strategy, but the story needs value beyond getting a link.
